It looks like ass on the iPad, frankly, despite being a universal app. The buttons are not responsive. There's no multiplayer, cheevos, or leaderboards (yet), although the game will track your own top 10 efforts.

I'm confused...the app description says it's for 2-4 players.

They must mean total players, not total humans. It's 2-4 players, then, either pass-n-play or versus AI.

Loot & Scoot is er...really rough. The game is good and it's a good fit for IOS, but the quality level is just not up to par with other IOS games. It feels and looks crude with some very, very annoying interface decisions and few options to do things like turn off the full-screen "TAP TO CONFIRM" messages or the crude animations. Then there's a loading screen that shows up far, far too often. The artwork is very..."girlfriend, wife, or sister". Sound is crude...I dunno, crude crude crude. The game _is_ good, but the implementation just isn't up to scratch.

Loot & Scoot is not only rough, but it's also not very good. Having to roll a 6 to defeat a monster makes it extremely luck dependant, and both tactical and strategic choices are virtually non-existent. I didn't find the game too cumbersome even though a few "confirm"-screens could have been cut, but the gameplay is just too damn simple.

Again I ask, why is there not a single Talisman clone for iOS? That seems like a no-brainer.

Edit: Oh wait, there is one, and I have it, but it's not any good. Again, I ask, why is there not a single good Talisman clone for iOS?

A fair question. The first half-decent one that gets to market will probably do very well, too.

And not an hour ago, I was wondering why SJG hasn't had Ogre in the App Store for at least a year now. Seriously, Steve: it's Ogre. Code it, put a price sticker on it, and tell Apple it's ready. You're falling behind the digital curve, buddy.

Or maybe they're just too busy with Munchkin 33: Lame Genre In-Jokes?

I'll field that Duke-

"We here at Steve Jackson Games would love to produce the definitive, deluxe Ogre IOS game that we all have always dreamed about. However, Muchkin Axe Cop."

Also, when is Wizards going to get their act together and put Magic on iOS? Like Magic Online with fully buyable packs of cards and deck building. That shiz would sell like crazy kinds of hotcakes.

Has anybody played Football Manager for iOS? I was thinking about getting FM12 for our iPad once we get to open it on xmas.

I deleted it.

I didnt like the interface and limited options that were available, definitely not compared to the full blown pc version.

Mind you, I was only trying FM11

I hear people like it because it's closer to classic FM. FM12 Handheld allows you to make customized formations

Often wondered this myself. An insanely popular game partnered with an insanely popular set of devices? It would be like getting a government contract to print your own money.

Wizards' digital strategy has often baffled me, though. Looking back at all of their digital initiatives over the years ... yeah, sorry, not that impressive.

So has anyone played Legion of the Damned? It looks suspiciously like Heroscape. The universal version comes out in January.

I've been playing a lot of Loot & Scoot on the iPad. It's not all that pretty and the interface a bit wonky (why, for instance, does it have a confirm screen for everything, but not for when you press the "leave the dungeon"-button which costs you the rest of your turn?), but the basic idea is a lot of fun.

Unfortunately I believe the basic game system is flawed. Two things bother me. First of all only having two actions per turn and being on a tight schedule, you can't really build up your characters. Or rather, especially when fighting the boss you don't gain anything from levelling up as opposed to hiring hirelings. And why you would ever want to have two of the same adventurer I can't even fathom. Yes, some monsters will allow you to attack with for instance two wizards, but again just having extra cannon fodder is a better option since they help you in every battle.

But the biggest caveat is the combat system. Most of the time hitting a monster requires you to roll a 6 on x number of dice. That means playing the odds is quite difficult and you'll see huge swings of luck in each game. That is not a bad thing in itself, but it's just another thing in the game that makes me feel I have no impact but merely click "are you sure"-icons and wait a lot while the game plays itself.

Then again, I think it cost me three bucks so I can't see why you shouldn't just buy it and see for yourself.
