charlest wrote: People are likely backing that huge early bird level because of the discount, as they assume Stretch goals will add quite a bit to it. If stretch goals don't, then they can cancel their pledge at the last minute. That's the magic of the early bird, cause people to jump in which causes more funding which causes more stretch goals which makes those people attain the value they're seeking.

The Shogun level works out at $115 for the exclusives on top of the calculated "value" of what's in there. That's the Best Case Scenario in terms of reaching stretch goals. $5 off of $300 though, it smacks of something to call that a special, especially as, the way it's written, if you back at the Shogun level, you get nothing until 2018.

ETA- they've laid out a lot of stretch goals already, so there's not currently any notion that there will be more (one SG is secret I guess), and any SGs they do add are going to surely add more production time to an already huge wait for the game. It seems clear to me that they're not going with Other Worlds with this set (the expansion is only four new temple tiles), likely because by the time Blasted Wastes and Doomed Ship come out (if those are the names) there will be a bunch ready to go.

Eh, anyway. I'm sold on the Sumo pledge.

I take the ??? graphic to mean multiple stretch goals. They just want to show the dragon so people will see something big that they can reach relatively soon. I'm thinking Jason wanted to see how fast the project would grow overnight before filling out the stretch goals between 500k and 1mill.

Yeah I think you're right. Also I did manage to read the FAQ which has this to say:

By the end of the KS Campaign, the Shogun Level Pledge will be a good value for the $300 Pledge amount. The Core Set is valued at $100, the Temple of Shadows Deluxe Expansion $80, you get the two exclusive Hero Classes, and all of the Stretch Goals (as opposed to only the fewer, lower value, tan colored 'Sumo' Stretch Goals). We estimate the final value of the Shogun Level will be between $500-$700 Retail when the campaign is complete. And that is in addition to the 2 Exclusive Heroes. For reference, the Sumo Level Pledge is estimated to reach a value of around $200-250 Retail by the campaign's end.

You can alter those "values" by changing $100 to $70, and $80 to $50 (Which is what Trederra goes for online, after I bought it for $80 direct like a doofus).

I should have checked the pledges more closely. Nobody gets anything until 2018. Jeez. Still, will probably get it before High Frontier. I guess I can spend 2017 playing Massive Darkness after all.

No one mentioning Cryptic Explorers?
www.kickstarter.com/projects/tempesttome...tics-in-the-realms-o

Cave Evil like aesthetic, sci-fi dungeon crawl full of weird. It was originally titled Necronauts in their first Kickstarter but they cancelled and re-launched without minis. Struggling unfortunately.

Ha ha! Could that possibly be more of a rip off?

I don't get the sense the designer has any idea of what actually made Cave Evil a thing and is just aping the style.

This is so toothless...even the name sounds like a pbs kids show and not anything related to black metal.

Lame.

I dunno, the designer said they hadn't even heard of Cave Evil until after the first Kickstarter has launched. He also recently met up with Nate and Mr. Hayden hasn't had anything bad to say about the project.

Gameplay looks very different as this is more of a traditional dungeon crawl structure in a non-traditional garb.

The original name was also Necronauts and the logo was unreadable. People complained about both.

FOMO levels on Forbidden Fortress SHOGUN are now at about 23% and rising with the addition of the Forest of the Dead other world expansion.

I'm betting the FotD other world will be equivalent to SoB's Cynder, where the 3x Spectral Horde monsters at $750K are the included enemies in the retail version.

With SoB and the upcoming Kingdom Death kickstarter I was really waffling on Deep Madness. They just released part 2 of the gameplay video and now my pledge is cemented. It loooks like a lot of fun + the base pledge is a great deal.

Mythic Battles: Pantheon is right up my alley. Skirmish game in a box, Greek mythology and has unit drafting with multiple win conditions. Minis look pretty good for the most part. Hope it hits 1mil or more to unlock a ton of content!

Also saving up for Kingdom Death since I'm already all-in and really enjoying the game. Possibly the best game I've played...ever.

Yeah, the kingdom death thing... still dunno what I'll do. The minis part of it is a big turnoff but the game sounds awesome.

I wonder how many TMNT Kickstarter sales IDW lost because Ghostbusters was so poorly received?

Only complaint with the game so far is that Bebop and Rocksteady should have been bigger!

I had never assembled nor was I interested in assembling miniatures before purchasing Kingdom Death. Now that I'm done, it really wasn't that bad. It's not a hobby I'd take up, but I'm glad that I powered through the assembly process. If you're really dreading it, you only really need the monsters and at least 4 survivors (or just raid some minis from another game).

There's a site called Vibrant Lantern that gives you a basic overview of how to assemble most content in the game.
