So there's no loss to the economy when financial incentive is removed from innovation?
I don't have an issue with the protection of copyright, it's the collateral damage that is really the issue here.

I think most people agree with this. This bill is entirely made up of collateral damage, and probably won't accomplish anything it actually wants to do.
No I think it will do exactly what THEY want it to. They're just lying about it.

1) A large base of useless and impoverished people
2) A small percentage of specialized labourers in agricultural and industrial complexes, whose wealth is determined by how rare their skills are
3) (Provided higher education is still a common good) A slightly larger percentage of intellectual workers, who, since they'll exist in ample quantities, will largely be poor (=bohemians)
4) A selected few who share leadership posts in economy, politics, etc. amongst themselves and who, in order to get to the top, learnt to be ruthless, selfish and greedy
I hope I can make it into the 3rd category. I'm too weak-minded for the 4th and too lazy for the 2nd. Otherwise I'll be in the 1st, which isn't too bad since I won't breed and can therefore live the rest of my live halfway decent on the mediocre wealth of my parents.
