Downloaded the new Fleet Foxes album yesterday. I like it a lot so far. It reminds me of different artists at different points. Some parts sound a little like Zeppelin (think "Battle of Evermore"), and their harmonies remind me of the Beach Boys. The band they most remind me of is Moxy Fruvous, if Fruvous was a lot darker. This is my first introduction to them, and I think I'll be picking up their debut as well.
Also been listening to The Hives a lot, which is a good way to accidentally drive too fast. I wish they would release albums more frequently (they are keeping pace with the Beastie Boys, U2, and Red Hot Chili Peppers). Still, Tyrannosaurus Hives is such a killer album. Hard to complain with what I have already.

I've not heard the latest one, but I enjoyed their debut. There are actually quite a few bands around in the same vein - resurrecting older folky styles of arrangement and instrumentation but with a decidedly modern lyrical twist and a lot of influence from alternative rock. Other US bands doing new-folk include the Decemberists and Bon Iver. In the UK we've got Mumford & Sons, Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling. It's a style I like a lot.
I've only ever heard one Hives song, Hate To Say I Told You So. It is indeed a superb song for driving too fast.

The Hives are cool, but if I'm feeling that vibe I'll usually just put on The Sonics and keep it OG.
