With the locking of the "What MUSIC are you listening to?" thread, I haven't been posting these updates here, but thought I'd dump the last few entries since I've received some good comments in the recent past.

From halfturkey.blogspot.com/2011/04/project-250-reviewing-1987.html , Dinosaur Jr. – You're Living All Over Me, Eric B. & Rakim– Paid in Full, Spacemen 3 – The Perfect Prescription, The Swans – Children of God, Candlemass – Nightfall.

From halfturkey.blogspot.com/2011/06/project-250-reviewing-1988.html , Galaxie 500 – Today, Voivod – Dimension Hatröss, Talk Talk – Spirit of Eden, Sonic Youth – Daydream Nation, My Bloody Valentine – Isn’t Anything.

From halfturkey.blogspot.com/2011/06/project-250-reviewing-1989.html , Galaxie 500 – On Fire, The Blue Nile – Hats, Pixies – Doolittle, Steve Reich – Different Trains / Electric Counterpoint, New Order – Technique.

From halfturkey.blogspot.com/2011/06/project-250-reviewing-1990.html , Danny Elfman – Edward Scissorhands, Danzig – II: Lucifuge, Sonic Youth – Goo, Slayer – Seasons in the Abyss, Fugazi – Repeater.

From halfturkey.blogspot.com/2011/07/project-250-reviewing-1991.html , Melvins – Bullhead , Talk Talk – Laughing Stock, Mercury Rev – Yerself Is Steam, The Wedding Present – Seamonsters, Slint – Spiderland.

For those who don't want to read the links, MBV, New Order, Sonic Youth, and The Wedding Present were the big winners, but a lot of those albums that weren't completely solid had amazing highlights: Mercury Rev, Slint, Fugazi, The Blue Nile, and Dinosaur Jr..

Currently working on 1992 (my favorite year of music ever, but don't please judge that statement by the RYM.com top 50, including the below selections): Pavement – Slated & Enchanted, W.A.S.P. – The Crimson Idol, Red House Painters – Down Colorful Hill, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – Henry’s Dream, The Jayhawks – Hollywood Town Hall.

Wow, some great stuff here...don't know about backing Dimension Hatross with Talk Talk though!

I like Epicus Doomicus Metallicus over Nightfall and 13 Songs over Repeater. Daydream Nation has a couple of EXTRAORDINARY songs and TONS of filler. Goo too. Those two records together with half cut away make one really great one.

Technique is great, of course...that was from their Ibizia days and it has that whole Balearic influence. But most of all, you got looooooooove technique.

Eric B. and Rakim are one of my top rap acts. Can you spot the beatjacking from that record on Godflesh's "Pure"?

Galaxie 500 are a total fucking bore. So is Dinosaur Jr.

Blue Nile? W.A.S.P.? Man. Names seldom spoke anymore.

Totally agree with Daydream Nation. Even some of the filler songs had amazing moments of noise. I liked Goo more as a whole even though Daydream had the higher highs. When this project is done, I'll probably go back and pick up the few albums before Daydream.

They're not really that great. Evol would be the only one other than Daydream Nation/Goo/Dirty I'd recommend. They were really better when they got a little more mainstream, oddly enough.

I love what Michael Gira said about them, accounting for their relative success over Swans- something to the effect that Swans"never had the teenage audience that they cultivated"

It's a matter of taste and all that, but you're just plan wrong. Evol is such an amazing record, SY greatest hour. Sister is not far off and easily tops Daydream Nation and Goo. For a more mellow SY I recommend Murray Street. On a bad day I dream SY never released Daydream Nation, it's a shame it might be their best known record.

I too listened to Slanted & Enchanted yesterday. For all I care Pavement could have split up after it, they never archieved the same again. But then again how are you going to top that? The same goes for Pixies and Surfer Rosa.
