Re:What ITEMS have you been buying?

I bought an eight pack of beer and a bag of pot. Does that count?

I also bought (cosummerism thread... cool) a bunch of octo-mandolin strings, they're harder to find then you might think, and a cool music book of Persian Classical music. It's really hard to figure out the harmonies because there aren't any chords listed or bass clef written out. Just odd melodies in weird times...

Still, it was totally worth it.

On the house side, we just got a 40 inch LCD TV... very boring and domestic of me. Also, we started renting a studio for my wife, who is finding it hard to get her painting done in our little appartment. She seems to like it, and I like the free time it gives me too.

Never heard of it, where are they from?

I guess there are only a few places to get them in North America right now, but to me, this looks too badass not to at least find a decent niche.

Apparently, the bamboo is just as strong as the steel bike frames are made out of, but lighter.

I ride the same bike for nine years now and I have no urge to replace it, especially not with some piece of crap like that. I cherish modern conveniences such as brakes or gears.

My bike was stolen last week (happens on a regular basis here in Copenhagen) so I just bought a new one. This time I'm trying with no gears, and my initial impression is good. Also, no gears means I got a better and better looking bike for the same money as one with.

just bought an original NES with zapper gun, 2 controllers, Zelda, Super Mario, Duck Hunt, etc.

Also bought some teapot from Russia. The shipping was like 4 bucks. I have a feeling it's a mistake.

I can just hear the sound of that bamboo splintering and embedding itself in my fat ass.

I bought a new bluetooth because I lost mine. This weekend I plan to buy some wine at a local wine festival. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

Bought a couple of pairs of biking tights (with and without chamois) and North Face gore-tex shoes to keep on biking to work until it snows, hopefully.

BTW to the smartasses, just type a search for Bamboo Bike in Google images and you'll see some with real gears and brakes, no kidding! I doubt it would splinter unless you're way too fat to get on a bike in the first place.

I hope you have an old CRT TV laying around, because I'm pretty sure the Zapper doesn't work with newer sets. I've heard it works with tube HDTVs, but I had one and it wouldn't respond to my gun.

Pipe 2, Space Ghost 0

Had to throw in the towel tonight and go back to the hardware store to get a plumber's torch and cold chisel.

I will mess with many things in my house, but I don't touch plumbing. You're a brave man, Space Ghost.

Dude, plumbing's easy. It's electricity that can kill you. The new pipes don't even need glue anymore. Apparently plastic pipes and glue was too complicated, so now it's just pipes!

We had a cast-iron line that ran under concrete go bad, and I was looking at a major crisis. The plumber we called told us to just leave it, that he'd run a whole new line. This is in the basement so it was a good solution. Plastic the whole way now and I have access to it if there's trouble. Before I had a fifty foot run under the concrete that was damn near impossible to clear. Now I can knock along the length of the new pipe and hear where the clog is.

I bought a house on Wednesday, and kind of got common-law married at the same time. No internet hookup at the house, yet. I'm in a Starbucks right now.

Anyway, I'm winning this thread so you folks had better step up your game.

in what country do you get common-law married when you buy a house together? In Canada, you gotta be living with someone for a year, in the States, I thought it was seven.
