I don't know why I am telling you this, and I hope it doesn't help you, but there is a solid technique for Threes. I get 384s more often than not doing this.

Pick a corner. Push everything into that corner. You want to make sure you are keeping your biggest card in that corner. Almost everything else is secondary to this. Say it's top left. You can, occasionally, pull from the left or from the top; but never, if you can help it, pull in those directions if it would move your largest card. Basically, only if you would lose, otherwise. Knowing a 3+ is coming in is a big help because it lets you know when that kind of move is perhaps less risky. But if you stick to this primarily you will do well. Secondary is making sure you have a plan for 1 & 2 management, but that largely falls out to sliding in "correctly" given where the balance of them are.

Billy, may we see your photos of Secret Satan 2012? You we're found to be NONCOMPLIANT in an audit we conducted.

Yeah, I already do all that. It's not really a hard game to figure out. There's just some risk involved in combining those big numbers when you open up a side you'd been protecting.

Even then, you can usually dig out pretty fast. But when you're assembling 3s and 6s, and get a fucking 48 in the middle of it, it's no longer party time.

The brutal string of all reds or blues is also certain death. With a high top number, there's just not enough room on the board anymore to absorb five reds with no blues.

Did you fail to post pictures of what you got? Could be why Andrew is up in arms.

Ohhhhhh-that would make perfect sense! Hahahaha!! Okay...alright, I'm working all weekend so don't expect anything until Tuesday- but it'll totally be worth the wait: it'll include a little anecdote involving the friendly Canadian Border Service Agency...

I've played a bit of Kahuna against the AI opponent. And while it's still a good game, the AI is simply too stupid. I finished the entire ladder of opponents and lost only twice - once because I couldn't undo a mistake move I made.

Async is probably the way to go. But is anyone of you guys playing it?

Whatever happened to Goku or Goko or whatever, that company which grabbed the rights to a ton of games, shit out a crappy version of Dominion, and then never did anything else? If I recall they were squatting on some things I'd love to see on iOS: Steam, Race for the Galaxy, a few others. Are they just floundering along, tying up those rights until someone puts them out of their misery?

That's a good question. I was wondering that the other day myself.

More than likely, they're floundering and trying to avoid getting into arrears with RGG and other licensers. Probably making promises and stringing folks along.

God, that Dominion thing was a cock-up. It could have ruled the world if it were done right. There is no reason in the world that there shouldn't be a $1.99 Dominion app with every expansion available at this point as IAPs.

Almost certainly those guys showed up at RGG with a bunch of flashy Powerpoints and buzzwords and dazzled Jay and co. into thinking that it was the way to go digital. But...um...were are all the digital RGG games? It's like three years on now, isn't it?\

I almost wonder if this deal with Goko or whatever isn't one of the reasons why RGG's profile has diminished substantially even though they're apparently still in business to keep Dominion and a handful of other titles in print.

I think Jay is doing OK these days. Going narrow and deep in terms of supporting Dominion at the expense of all else may not win him points on TOS , but the Steve Jackson method of game company management does offer a certain financial stability.

AFAIK Jay had planned to contract his product line before the app fiasco.

As far as the iOS cock up with Dominion, I'd throw Thunderstone into the mix as an example of an excellent board game license that got royally fucked up when it was licensed out to whatever outfit came up with the current abomination that exists for electronic play.

Oh man, the Thunderstone thing was also awful.

Here's what Goko was up to back in August: venturebeat.com/2013/08/23/a-year-after-...new-mobile-strategy/

Good to see that RFTG, Steam, Citadels, and 147 other games are all in such solid hands.

With all the money they must have paid for those licenses, I'd hope they would have gone under and let someone with a fucking clue take on those projects.
