Grognards: What battles are you waging?

The Charles S. Robert awards were recently announced. I was surprised at how many categories there are.

Undaunted is interesting to me. I’m also tempted by the Napoleon series from Shakos (1815 won here), but it’s a Golden Bell company so I’m pretty sure I don’t want to support them, even though the game system seems really good.

I agree about Undaunted. I’d really like to try one, and the campaign nature of the Stalingrad issue looks particularly tempting

Napoleon 1806 and 1807 are both very good. The system is not complicated, and it has what feels to me like the appropriate amount of friction, or chaos, or lack of control. They’re good games, and they feel like reasonable simulations. I’m not sure which one I like better. The two campaigns are quite different, and that’s well reflected in the scenarios.

I don’t pay much attention to Kickstarter, and I don’t follow the game industry carefully, so I had to look up Golden Bell to understand your comment. Now that I’ve done a little reading, I’m glad that I bought both of my copies used.

Started the Vietnam campaign from Fields of Fire 1, did mission one over a bunch of short tabletop simulator sessions. Luckily didn't get a couple of helicopters shot down at the landing zone, but it was close.
