Pretty sure Necromunda is in the plans for the new specialist games. I don't think Gorkamorka is though.

But I think they get (finally) that offering a) miniatures that will appeal to both board gamers that want the one set and also to collectors building armies, b) a good value over MSRP of existing models, and c) a quality "pack in" game will spell success.
I like the Stormcloud Attack stuff but it feels like a whiff at the price, even though it is a good value. The problem is having it separated into three packs.
I also think that more likely are NEW games that include miniatures or factions they are currently promoting with other products like books- SA has a couple of books that go along with it.
Maybe they will do a Warlord Titan board game that features four Warlord Titans in a box big enough for four midgets, retailing for $3000.

You wanna play Necromunda? Gorkamorka? Get out there and organize a game! The rules are out there, There's more minis lines than ever to pull from. There's nothing stopping y'all from playing these games now. Orks, bikes, and war trukks are plenty available. Heck, I played Mordheim at least three times last year. It's like all the fellas getting excited about the new BB...."I can't wait to start a league!"...Uh....go for it now. I've been playing BB and there's been no official GW release for that line in about a decade.
Don't wait for your corporate masters...kick that DIY spirit into gear!
Anyway...about these new releases. I'm reading on some of the 40K boards that most of those folks are buying these games for the great deal on the minis and not to actually play the games. Can't say I'm surprised, as much of a savings as these are. I hope the games are good though. Seems like it's mainly the boardgamers giving these titles a try or two. Personally, I'd like to see a more unified branding on the new GW boardgames. Unless you're read up, the boxes on the flgs shelves don't appear much different than all the 40k box/starter sets. The classic GW boardgames had a familiar aesthetic. They look great lined up on the shelf.
Dark Future specifically...I don't get the rumors on this new release. It's not 20mm/hot wheels, but 28mm. It's not set in the same future earth setting (which was great), so the name makes no sense. The DF brand is fairly obscure, so I'm not sure why GW simply don't call it something else. Seems like the new game is closer in spirit to Gorkamorka...a title with a larger fan base. Plus, that new DF video game will now be in a different setting than the tabletop game? Uh? Brand confusion here. Maybe I've got the rumors wrong though...

There's so much they could do, I think a Space Hulk expansion that gets beyond Terminators/Genestealers could be good. But I would really like to see board games with different races...like an Eldar vs. Necron thing or something. Something focused on land vehicles.
Barring Dreadfleet, that seems to be their main focus with miniature boardgames for decades now. The drug that brings you into the main addiction...They standalone, yet can be mixed into their main wargames. And even creative people managed to add dreadfleet somehow into their manowar games, I'd bet.
I'm not a fan of what they did with chaos space marines, grey knights, eldar, imperial guard, etc. in white dwarf, the compendiums and the genestealer expansion for space hulk. It turned space hulk into a skirmish engine. Not a bad thing, but also very much not space hulk.
It lost its identity and focus when they did that. And the rules were lackluster even in that regard due to creating a complexity that was significantly higher than what was found in Hulk. This is why the deathwing expansion won awards and is still highly regarded to this day nearly universally among space hulk fans, and why the genestealer expansion has far more mixed feelings from fans.

Any chance we can get a brief review of this issue over in it's thread? I've got a copy sealed to ship overseas but am curious if the hype is justified.

The expansions all look pretty good, they are of the quality you'd expect from "classic" WD. Some are a little more extensive than others. Also like you'd expect, each one (except the Space Hulk one) is basically how to use other minis in your games. So there's rules for using Daemons in Execution Force, Terminators in Lost Patrol, that SWANK ASS Deathwatch flyer in Stormcloud Attack and so forth. Which is cool but...if you don't have those models and aren't inclined to proxy, this $9 magazine needs about $500 of miniatures.
The other content and features are pretty good if you like GW stuff...batreps, a really good painting guide for the Slaughterpriest (which I followed and got some of the best results yet), a little thing about some models from John Blanche's collection (which actually don't look so hot!). Lots of advertising, duh. Good layouts, good presentation. It does have that British magazine look and feel, with text all over the place. TONS Of great illustrations, of course.
It's worth $9, especially with the figure. It's REALLY good. And you can use it in Gorechosen AND Silver Tower AND Age of Sigmar. But most of the add-ons are iffy if you don't want to do something like buy a second Contemptor for Calth. I really like that they supported Space Hulk in there, and it's good for both the 2009 and 2014 editions with no alterations.
Zero support for Dreadfleet in there though. Wa waaaaah.
