I just received my Roku from Netflix last night and I must say I am very pleased. I didn't really know what it was until my cousin filled me in on this amazing device.
If you already have an X-box live subscription or a certain Blue ray DVD player you do not need the Roku but this little box is perfect for me!
It allows you to stream TV shows and movies from Netflix direct to your TV. If you are like me and think all current TV is crap and crave those old TV shows like I do, then the Roku is a dream come true.
I like to watch the old shows on stations like TV Land but the problem is they are edited and chopped up more than a pizza at a gaming con. Plus the screen is filled with all of these overlays while you are watching which is very distracting, at least for me it is.
The unit hooks up via wireless internet and is up and running in minutes. The quality is great and depends on the speed of your internet. My speed is average and the picture is great, perfect for TV shows.
Time will tell if this will replace my Dish but I can see myself using this all the time now.
However, the real reason to get a Roku is to see the BEST Battlestar Gallactica series, the original!

Quite a fairly decent selection too really.
Heck, they even have all of Heroes Season 3 on there so far.
I'm a dork and have been watching a lot of Columbo because Peter Falk rules.
Only thing is on some TV shows you wont be able to watch all the episodes because a couple episode per season will be listed as "AVAILABLE ON DISC ONLY" but whatever.
Quantum Leap is on Netflix which rules.
A bunch of Dr. Who stuff as well but i'm not familiar with the show.
Also all of season 1 of Star Trek on there as well.
