That's right

www.critical-hits.com/2009/08/17/gencon-...vaganza-with-photos/

near the bottom of the page (a review from gen con) there is a small add for the ravenloft co-op board game for 1-5 players "filled with dice and plastic". Plus a new heroscape set featuring D&D characters. Looks interesting.

Strahd! Actually, that could be cool...I like that it's based on the original module. Too bad it's literally a year away!

The HEROSCAPE stuff looks pretty Heroscapey. "Battle for the Underdark", huh?

Looks like they've got a really strong lineup...the PH with the cartoon artwork, that's pretty striking.

Interesting to see how this will pan out...probably one of my favorite modules before I stopped playing the RPG.

I have a whole list of little DIY gaming projects that I want to work on after I finish my current project, and one of them was a gothic horror adventure based directly on the first two Ravenloft adventures. Just for fun, not for actual publication. Now I can move that to the bottom of my list and wait for their game. I hope it's really good.

I'm also happy about the second set of Three-Dragon Ante coming up in February.
I really like this game. It's light but has some depth.

I'm starting to get kinda pissed about the rate of new D&D books coming out. Like, they all generally look awesome but I sure as fuck can't go spending the money to get more than a handful every year. But with the way D&D works, it's so hard for me to not want to use that new material. We're gonna get to PHB 15 before long.

That said, I can say that I pretty much want everything Wizards puts out.

Is there any word on who's designing the Ravenloft game? I'd say that Wizards has a pretty solid track record for boardgames despite a few misses.

And yeah, that Penny Arcade cover art looks awesome. I wonder what will be in it though that would make it somehow more worthwhile than the multitude of free info on the character optimization boards? Rule books are good to have around for easy tableside reference, but character theory isn't something you really bring to the table.

Was in a Ravenloft game once that included a gnome-like race that were pathological surgeons. If that makes the boardgame cut, I AM IN. Creepiest shit outside of GURPS Horror I have ever played... Call of Cthulhu can kiss my ass.

Wow, Dark Sun. That will make a friend of mine very happy. And I was all cynical and saying they'd just put out Forgotten Realms and Eberron and then it would big wows for 5th edition.

The Expedition to Castle Ravenloft has the exact same title and cover art as the 3.5 adventure book. This makes me think it will essentially be a reprint of that game with the maps from the book made into boards and plastic figures thrown in. I understand that book was itself a reprint of the original Ravenloft AD&D module. Sounds pretty good to me.

Never played the adventure, but how many times can you play the same D&D adventure? They'll have to add considerably more stuff to make into a board game IMO, and make it hard enough to win as well because it's coop.
