There is something about just seeing what's inside the box that suddenly sparks my interest in a new game.

Cool. I've actually wanted to pick this up for a while, but it's a little pricey for a game that I know my group won't play. I think Frag is a good B&P game, though. As long as you've got a decent number of players, and they're not a bunch of jaded assheads who're going to nitpick the thing to death, it can be a lot of fun.

Plus, it's nice to see SJG doing some games with components that are up to snuff.

I wish they talked about how game play works as opposed to how to use the record sheet.

Well, this was just a component overview. You can read the rules online if you want. Besides, it's pretty basic stuff. You move, you shoot, you pick up weapons, that's pretty much it.

Yeah I could, but they had my attention, why not state what the object of the game is and show a sample round.

Are components really the biggest selling point for this or any other game?

I like the comment on the board: "This is where we put the blood."

For some games, yes. For this game, no. I've never played Frag, concept seems fun, run around get better equipment and shoot each other. But the graphic design is really boring. Those stat cards are really plain looking, is that Times New Roman?

And the board is really plain looking. I mean, I might as well play on graph paper. I think I'd better ask Universal Head how I break into board game graphic design.

Even with nicer components, Frag will still suck a bucket of cocks. How high do you have to be to think that a board game version of a FPS will be fun? Frag was boring years ago and it doesn't look like they improved it.

I dont get it. I mean, I like board games as much as the next guy, but if I wanted to play an FPS, wouldn't I just play an FPS instead of a BOARD GAME version of an FPS? odd...

Doom is a FPS-based board game that works. Frag on the other hand sucks a whole lot of sucks.

I picked up Frag Deadlands back when it first came out. The original Frag looked too generic and boring, so I figured that the Deadlands weird-western theme would make it more entertaining. And maybe it did, but I still found Frag to be fast, simple and yet not particularly interesting or fun. There just isn't much game there. You can strip a boardgame down to run so quickly that it's almost like an FPS game, but you still won't have an FPS game, just a stripped-down boardgame.

Exactly. There are things that translate well to a board game, FPS'ers aren't one of them.
