The other new thing I saw at the game shop tonight (the first was Frag - Gold Edition) was EVE: Conquests. I am only vaguely aware of EVE. Quite a few of the people in my old vampire larp group got seriously involved with EVE, and my old friends in Indy took a long look at it before returning to their own obsession with World of Warcraft. And of course, Thaadd of FFG and F:AT is an avowed EVE addict.
So I'm surprised that none of them ever talk about EVE-related games like the CCG or this new boardgame. Does EVE not market its own products to its core fanbase?
TOS did have info on this game. There is a very busy-looking board that is possibly a hassle to play on. The playtesters apparently loved their poker chips, as there are quite a few plastic objects in the game that closely resemble poker chips. And there are a bunch of cards, probably printed on the same flimsy stock that CCP/White Wolf used in games like Hunter: Deadly Prey. Lots of dice, too.
From the sketchy list of mechanics and themes, EVE: Conquests looks like it wants to be Twilight Imperium. But it's so new that nobody has posted any comments or reviews yet. I will be keeping an eye on this one.

I should see the bag of swag from the gathering tonight at game night... if it is in there I will force people to play it and report back

I considered writing a review for the CCG, but I'm lazy. I'm pretty sure it was only marketed to EVE players though as I heard of it by chance. At its peak the only places to get it online were White Wolfs website and Potomac (or its offshoot Universal Cards). LGS's weren't really carrying it from what I read back then.

Skip it its more Euro than 4X space battle.
