The thing is, I prefer if tactical puzzles are abut positioning. Gloomhaven is, but it's so much more about resource management (cards, exhaustible cards, elements). Granted, most other games are the same. But Gloomhaven's circuitous mechanisms make it so much tilted to the resource management game. It takes Euro's complex system interface (that is you're playing the "system" instead of the "game"), and add in a good amount of randomness. The two just don't work for me. Somehow I prefer Descent's dreaded blue X (I know it's gonna happen often) than Gloomhaven's single miss cards, which truely feels like life sucks.
