New Stellaris patch and paid DLC. Adds ancient artifacts and like super artifact relics which give you a civ boost and a cool power to proc if you finish their big event quests. New precursors races/events too, which is great, though I got Cybrex again in my new game. Also added archaeology projects which are like multi-part very time consuming research projects on a single planet. I think they're trying to force players to make choices about how to use previously copiously available scientist time.

Anyway, not critical unless you're a superfan like me, but very fun color. Great thematic addition---i think you should feel free to wait for a discount for it.

I could play this game forever (I'm almost at 200 hours). It has this capacity to take me out of any sort of anxiety or real life shit that's twisting me in knots like right now. Something about the pace, customization, and presentation.

I haven't loaded Stellaris back up in some time. Games of that nature... I tend to play a ton for a very short time, then fall off for one reason or another, and never go back, or at least don't go back for a long time.

I tend to come back at each patch or DLC and play a ton, just like you.

I've played further in the first game with relic DLC and it's a nice small addition to the game. From a game design perspective basically what it's doing us keeping a scientist economy in the game for much longer. I found myself having to make tough decisions whether to go off further exploring, do the very hard anomalies, or have them sink tons of time into excavation event chains.

It's also giving you fun usable trophies (major relics) for big things your civilization has done which is a great narrative nod.

There are probably a tad too many ancient archeological sites in the game right now, but I'm guessing they'll dial it back a tad sometime in the future.

I'm really looking forward to playing another game of this whenever the economy stuff gets rolled into the ps4 version. I should check to see if that's happened, actually.

Yeah, I feel real bad for you console guys. I hope they're coming up to speed on getting closer to PC. You're right to target the economy patch. That is what I would want to see in the game before I went in hard, though I played the SHIT out of the game before it, it's still quite functional. The planet management was a huge change and improvement though.

Be warned! The new PC patch made habitability penalties really big again which I think is a *huge* positive change. You have to think hard before even settling a 60% world for your main species. It used to be habitability didn't matter much and you could just settle on really unfriendly world's without huge penalties.
