I'm moving to the Philippines! was created by san il defanso
We announced today to our local church that my wife and I have accepted a position in the Philippines. We're going to be moving in the spring.
All that to say, I'm going to need you jokers to buy a lot of my games.

So even less gaming time than you're 'enjoying' now?

I don't appreciate your church finding out before us. The Fort has been and always will be your church. Praise be Kenneth.

It was all just handed very poorly. Very rude, very tacky. And now F:AT is the last to know.
Hold me Barney.

Very cool. I mean, not very cool that you're already leaving the state before we even had a chance to get some games in, but it should be a real adventure. Congrats, man.

Let me take your life changing announcement, and make it all about MEEEEEE.
Things I learned from moving overseas:
1. You will be tired all the time, at least at first, and not know why. It is stress from your radically different surroundings.
2. Make sure the cost of shipping your junk back home is the same as shipping it there. We had to get rid of a lot.
3. You won't need as much stuff from home as you thought
4. Once you're immersed in your life there, your life in the US will fade away. There's not room for both.
5. Bring some desert island games. You will need them.
6. Finding good health care makes all the difference.
7. We grew closer to our expat friends than many of our friends in the states.
8. Find out what is rare there, and common in the US. Bring some for whoever is helping you on that end
9. Maybe bring an extra copy of a hard-to-find-in-the-Philipines game for trading or whatnot
I'm jealous. I want to go back overseas, but without the stress. But the craziness is what made it meaningful and awesome.

We'll be 8,000 miles closer!
(and still 1,700 miles apart)

Do you know Tagalog? Allow me to give you the first lesson. When you land, do not use the phrase "Pakalolo" for any reason because Duarte will murder you. If you happen to be able to go to Alongopo City, make sure to have several peso coins on you so that you, too, can giggle when you toss one into the "shit river" and watch the impoverished youths dive into the water (if you can call it that) that is befouled with feces and industrial pollutants in order to retrieve said coin.
The good news is that there's hookers galore and you can drink some legit Mojo.

My wife says to try to hold on to your kidneys, as surgical removal of them, from innocents abroad, is quite the sport in Manilla.
