UFC-BOXING Conspiracy Theory

I don't plan on seeing it*, but no way does Mayweather lose this fight. This circus is clearly a money grab. If there were real interest in the competitive spirit, the two would have a boxing match and an MMA match. See who fares best in their opponents discipline. That sort of thing won't happen though.

I used to follow MMA quite a bit back in the day...the early to mid 90s. We'd go see them in backwoods arenas like in Birmingham, Al as for a while the UFC fights were outlawed in most states. Back then, you'd also have the fighters competing in multiple matches in a night. Brutal. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the various martial arts compete against each other. Once everyone realized the keys to success and all started to train the same it became a bit boring, IMO - though it clearly made sense. I was stoked when Machida was winning his early matches as his strong Karate, counter-punching technique was outside the norm, but by and large the excitement has become lost on me. Bring back the Sumos, Sambos, the pure Kickboxers and pure Judo guys. But that era is over.... :/

* correction...I don't plan on _paying_ for it. I have a buddy I practice jiu-jitsu with. He'll probably get it...if so, I'll likely watch.

That''s why I stopped. These guys aren't doing "MMA" anymore, they're training in the same style of fighting. It's not like a Brazilian JJ master is fighting a Savate master, it's all guys from the same camps, from the same styles, practicing the same techniques. It's not like it used to be.

One might even say this is the logical evolution of Jeet Kune Do.

Personally, I liked Vitor Belfort the best of all fighters aside from Liddell. Fucker wore shoes like "I'm going to fuck you up and I won't even kick you." Balls.

Respectfully, no fucking way. There is nobody I would like to see knocked out more than Floyd, but Conor can't box him. Mayweather is old and still the best defensive boxer of the last 30 years. He doesn't care if he's booed. He doesn't care about making a pretty fight look ugly. It's not just a shoulder roll. He makes the ring feel large. He doesn't move his head if he doesn't need to. He has a great measure of another fighter's reach. Most importantly, I don't see another boxer beating Floyd on the cards. His punching accuracy is outstanding, and he doesn't waste energy. Moreover, an opponent would have to outwork him every round or knock him out. I don't see either happening.

Let me elaborate.

I don't think he'll lose on merits. I think the whole thing is fixed to promote cross-discipline fandom.

There's also other issues. McGregor knocks people out standing up. His timing is different than a classic boxer's. He's had to learn to defend far more angles than a boxer. And he's ultra aggressive.

So, I don't think it's going to be a shitty fight despite an unranked guy going against one of the best of his generation, and an undefeated man.

All that said, even Money doesn't discount him

Mayweather isn't going to dismiss him at this point, regardless of what he actually thinks. He understands the fight gets more buys the less people realize it isn't going to be at all a competitive fight.

This is going down the same way as every other Mayweather fight. Out point and gain decision without any really tense moments. McGregor was almost out boxed by Nate Diaz who no one would give $200.00 to fight Mayweather. I see where you're going with the fix Pete but at the end of the day an undefeated legacy means a lot.
