I thought that favorite 5 bands thread we had going awhile back was pretty cool. Picking just 5 is a bitch, but makes you really damn critical of what you pick. So I've been thinking about what my 5 favorite albums might be. So here they are, to the best of my ability, in no particular order.

Pixies - Doolittle
Built to Spill - Keep It Like a Secret
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Weezer - Pinkerton
The Smiths - Meat is Murder

So let's hear it. No whining about just 5, we all know it's tough.

BTW, am I the only one that thinks this might make a cool weekly thing, like we used to do with Trashdome?

These are up there for me, too.

Lifetime - Hello Bastards
Operation Ivy - Energy
Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die
Bane - Give Blood
The Smiths - Louder Than Bombs (yeah, it's sort of cheating, but whatever, it was a legit release)

This is way harder than five bands.

Man, OP IVY was the bomb. RANCID gets all the love these days, but OP IVY started it all. "Sound System" is an all time classic.

Thank god it's "records" that gives me a little more flexibility.

Budapest String Quartet plays Beethoven's complete String Quartets, last disc. #'s 15 and 16
Leo Kottke: 6 and 12 string guitar
Lenny Breau: The Living Room Tapes
Glenn Gould: Consort Of Musicke By William Byrd & Orlando Gibbons
Leonard Cohen: Songs From a Room

Surprisingly hard:
The Pixies - Doolittle
KLF - The White Room
Girltalk - Feed the Animals
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Nick Cave - The First Born is Dead

Surprisingly no Pet Shop Boys or 90's Brit-pop made the list, which is odd as that is something musically people really identify with me, that and Tom Waits' "Goin' Out West".

I _loathe_ Rancid. Love Op Ivy though.

I'll play your game, you rogue.

1. Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning
2. Foo Fighters - The Colour and the Shape
3. Aerosmith - Pump
4. Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
5. Queen - A Night at the Opera

Crikey, that was difficult.

God, I get so tired of everyone being too hip to truly list the all-time classic best albums of all time. I feel like I'm hanging around at the Onion's AV Club. (High-fives Jeb)

Led Zeppelin - IV
Led Zeppelin - Physical Graffiti
Beatles - Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Fleetwood Mac - Rumors

Why does everyone always pick The Wall? Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, and Piper at the Gates of Dawn are all so much better.

Especially Animals. Why doesn't anyone ever pick that one?
