Talk about thread necromancy. Here's a whole forum subsection rising from the grave.
I found out today that after 30 years of dancehall, Jamaica is enjoying a roots reggae revival.

It's just the season for the vibe too, and some of the music is excellent.

That Chronixx record is good, too, and I think you can stream it free if you have AMZ Prime.
I also liked Soul Pirate from Alborosie. He's Sicilian, I think - not Jamaican, but still a good neo-roots album. Hard for me to believe it came out 8 years ago!

I listened to most of the artists mentioned in the piece, and I didn't really care for Chronixx. As you can probably tell from the videos, I like my reggae to be rhythm-heavy and Chronixx didn't really scratch that itch.
I'll check out Alborosie though. Plenty of great reggae gets made outside Jamaica.
