Based on recommendations here, I sprang the measly $0.99 for the Excalibur table for Zen Pinball. I'd been mostly playing Captain America, but this new table has me pretty hooked. Still getting a feel for things; it took me a few games to figure out the jousting mini-game and I just finally was able to fire up the catapult last night. So far my high scores are lower than any of the other tables, but this one is fun and has a lot to discover.

I also purchased Ascension recently. After a few games against the AI, I convinced my teenage son to play as well (he on his iPod Touch, me on our iPad). Our first game was relatively close as he beat me 71-68, but he's a bit of a card shark -- he plays a lot of M:TG and always seems to win our family sessions of Dominion -- and he quickly adapted a 'buy lots of Constructs' strategy that buried me in our game last night.

Interesting move by DoW: asynch multiplayer has been added to Ticket to Ride Pocket, but not to the TtR iPad app.

I'm playing a couple of games right now out of curiosity; I'm not convinced TtR needs to be asynch at all. But it's pretty to look at and seems to work just fine.

It uses simple GameCenter matching, for anyone who might be interested. I'm up for a game with whomever; see Jeb's iOS user name thread for all of our IDs.

What a weird call! I just deleted the TTR POCKET app from my iPad, as I have TTR LEGIT on there. Now I will have to put it back-asynch is where it's at.

Speaking of asynch: I got just stone MURDERED by imrahil327 in an ASCENSION game a few days ago. He and I both settled on the same idea, but he was a turn ahead and just bludgeoned me. 120 to 80 or something.

He and I played again, and despite all the sound advice in other threads, he took both Hectic Scribe and Mechana Initiate:

Like I said, I regret it every time ;) I wish there was a way to set up stats like they have for Dominion where you see win % when x card is in your deck.

Jeb, if you add it back on, hopefully you'll see an invite from me.

I just finished my first asynch game; it's dead-easy. Give DoW credit for only releasing polished stuff.

Just think, without them you would have had only 82 points.

I will add TTR:P back on. I need asynch gaming. I only have about 3 minutes uninterrupted at any time.

I played TRIPLE TOWN in Google Chrome. It's not grabbing me. I am a match-3 guy, but I am not getting a lot out of this. Too bad, as it looks pretty.

I have been going back into PUERTO RICO HD and am just losing badly. I need to sack up a little here.

Trouble in Tin Town

This is a strange one... Turn-based combat game, with a bizarre collection of characters including Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, Abe Lincoln, Cthulhu, and a variety of candy types, all as wind-up toys. But it's free, for now at least, and seems to play very well.

Well, it's not Summoner Wars, but the Playdek team did manage to push Food Fight out the door. And, honestly, it's great. I don't even know how to play, and I'm still having a blast.

Yeah, I forgot to mention Food Fight. I picked that up on first glance, and it's definitely fun and very well made. Here's a screenshot, btw:

Does food fight include drafting, or is it just deal out cards and pick your best five? I love drafting and that would be a no-brainer for me.

My brother talked me into downloading Xbaseball on Friday. It is the most repetitive, stupid game ever...and I can't stop playing it. Worst part about it, even with the sound all the way down on the iPad, it still makes plays sounds that will annoy all those around you. Download at your own risk.

Both modes are included with Food Fight; drafting is encouraged in a couple of places. And it does appear to be the more interesting way to play, by far.

Played a bunch of the new Excalibur table on Zen Pinball over the weekend. Fired up the catapult a couple of times and got some multi-ball, but still didn't beat my current high score (which is only ~36 million).

Also got to play a bunch of Ascension online. Thanks to everybody who friended me on GameCenter and sent game requests. In my first completed game, imrahil327 absolutely ate my lunch, drank my milkshake, and made me take out the trash. I think I need to work out my strategies a little more.

How's Food Fight? I've never played the card game, but if giving Playdek more money means Summoner Wars comes out sooner, I'm all for it.

If anyone would like to beat me like a drum in Ascension (I do have the RotF expansion), Ticket To Ride, Food Fight or anything else on Game Center, my ID is barneshome.

I'm also interested in receiving punishment in Hero Academy, where my ID is princeofspace.
