The Space Crusade base game can still be had for relatively cheap from a lot of Commonwealth sellers--it's the fucking shipping from the UK that just KILLS this one. You often see it for US$30, but you have to tack on another $50 for shipping because of the dimensions and weight. If you can find a seller and work out a deal to ship it without the ridiculously oversized GW/MB box, it can cut the price in half. Going rate for US sellers on this title seems to hover around $60-$75, and it doesn't crop up often. (Furthermore, I've found you need to REALLY pay attention to US sellers' listings as they often don't have the faintest clue if the game is truly complete.)
(Another ebay trick for this one is to look for copies of "Starquest," which was apparently the name for the German release. Parts for it and the 2 hard-to-find expansions often crop up from a couple of Euro sellers in Germany and Italy for pretty cheap. I ended up eventually pulling together complete-minus-box copies of both expansions by buying parts lots and still saving about $100 over market rate (particularly for that ridiculously expensive Eldar expansion)

There used to be a site that had spare parts for the game, I can't remember what it was. But I basically bought Starquest fairly cheap (I think it was about $30 US) and then bought all of the English spare parts.
Awesome game, one of my "will never sell" ones. I still don't have that Eldar expansion though, I have the Dreadnaught one but can't find those damn elves anywhere.

Are you asking about the Eldar expansion? $125 is generally the low end (and it can fetch hit that without the box); the upper limit seems to range from $225 to $300. And, as far as I can tell, it actually comes up for sale far less frequently than, say, the 2 US-only Heroquest expansions (the Barbarian and Elf expansion packs). I managed to piece together an Eldar expansion for under $100. Fortunately, I got ridiculously lucky that the first parts copy I stumbled across on ebay UK contained the bulk of the most difficult to find bits for under $60. Took another $40-$50 over a half-dozen or so small buys to pull all the parts together save the box.Notahandle wrote: Okay, I'm curious, hoe ridiculous is ridiculous?
As far as parts go, if you have a friend in Australia, this guy is great for Space Hulk/Crusade, Warhammer Quest, and AHQ bits: homepages.tig.com.au/~tezzajw/forsale.htm Problem is, he doesn't ship outside Australia anymore, so you really do need a friend downunder who will handle the transaction.

Holy crap! Prices like that might convince me to sell one day.

Damned if I can remember what it plays like. Mission Dreadnaught was played a lot, but Eldar not very often so I don't have any lasting memories of it. Sorry.

My first impression walking through the bits [I've not actually been able to get folks together to play since I bought the 2 expansions] is that it's a weird change of pace from Mission Dreadnaught. MD added all that heavy stuff...and now all of a sudden it's an invasion of Space Elves with all kinds of speed and those individual weapons that I kind of felt were a bit overpowered in WH40k (where I always assumed that it was that way as a counterbalance to the Eldars' generally fragile nature). I'm thinking that if SC gets to the table more frequently, MD would be my first choice of expansions.

Ohh yeah! The reason we played Dreadnaught far more was because no one actually wanted to play with the Eldar expansion instead of MD. 'No, no, let's play MD again this time, we can always play with Eldar next time...'
