I think Codex has a slight edge on Millennium Blades. Millennium Blades is a great experience, but it tends to run slightly long and it's a little unwieldy as it's a very messy game.

Codex is much more smooth IMO.

I don't agree with Dave on this one. Everything felt like it served a very refined purpose in the game and it all feels so sophisticated to me. Making workers by utilizing cards from your deck (smart trashing), buildings and patrollers giving an actual RTS game feel, heroes and teching down specific paths. It feels like you've only scratched the surface at a dozen or so plays.

Thanks. I think the idea of Millennium Blades is awesome but the 2 hour game time is a turn-off. I am likely going to receive the Codex core box for Christmas. If I like it, and I expect I will, I'll probably seek out the other decks. I'm surprised that it doesn't look like you can get the other other binders in any way other than ordering the over-priced deluxe set. It seems like a no-brainer to sell extra empty books.

I think they eventually will. I just have the retail core set currently but I'll be picking up additional binders if they ever become available.

I think having only two binders isn't a huge deal though. If you have multiple factions you likely won't store any in the binder and just use it for play.

I kickstarted the game, got the big set, and I am quite enjoying it. It has crazy amounts of depth and strategy. I only have 15 or so game sin, but I really dig it.

I see that this has been getting played a bit from posts in other threads. Can't quite figure out if you are playing with just 1 hero or all 3?

we've played with all three, but only one per tech level. I haven't read the rules though, this is what i was taught.

So far we have only played with one hero. When we feel like we are ready to step it up we will introduce the other heroes. And yes, according to the player boards, you don't get to bring all 3 heroes out until you properly tech up.

I've played mostly all 3 after a few intro games. That's one of my favorite elements, choosing mid-play which path to go down. At higher levels, teching certain cards as a counter is necessary and it works well.

3 heroes is basically the "real" game and is probably more fun. In 3 hero mode you get a lot more Tech 1 options and when one of your heroes dies you can use a different one next turn. But 1 hero is still fun to me if I'm playing with someone who I think will be overwhelmed with too many choices. Though I suspect some heroes may work better in 1-hero mode than others.

The other advantage to 1-hero is you don't have to use the binders. I really dislike setting up the binders before play and not having an ideal binder solution is currently my only gripe with the game.
