I played it when it was a CCG. It was completely random and arbitrary. There's no mana, you just get to play any one card each turn. It's just a bunch of over-powered nonsense. Still for $15 it's worth a shot. You might like it.
I agree. The connection to Star Realms gives it a pedigree. Star Realms is near perfect for what it is... Cheap two person space themed deck builder. MTG is covered in all kinds of warts.... Expensive, mana screwage, lockdown control decks. Etc. I suspect I will splurge the fifteen dollars to find out if this is any good.
Honestly Star Realms is what steers me away. I got my physical copy literally the day before the iPad version came out. Played it once and grabbed the digital copy. Played that about a dozen times and just found nothing there. I sold the physical copy and haven't touched the digital one. It's small and fast but so are a lot of things that have more going on. Maybe the expansions changed that, I dunno.
This just looks like speed Magic and there are other games that give me that now, Omen being the current favorite.
While I didn't back the Kickstarter, I did pick this up and my daughter and I really enjoyed it, more than Magic. We've picked up 2 sets of everything now and Epic is the only card game we play anymore. I'm getting ready to bring in all my Magic cards to the store.
I love it. It's free-wheeling and nonsensical. Then you build decks and the chaos is magnified. Tons and tons of fun for sure. I liked it back when it was a CCG. Even better now that it's not.
