I had planned on wrapping up the rules to Dungeon Degenerates and playing a solo game before bed, but we had a unscheduled dinner with our friends who had bought Castles of Burgundy. They’re terrible at getting past that first rules/setup hurdle with almost any game, so... I was their CoB tutor for the evening.

Not my favorite game on the planet and I was pining for a nice solo session with DD as I collected my pig farms, shipped purple goods, established taupe Banks, and watched the Feld point machine crank our VP markers randomly around the board. But it was good company and I could think of worse ways to spend the evening.

Truck Stop Golden Corral or Stand Alone Golden Corral? It makes a difference you know.

Which is better? I'd guess truck stop.

I had JJ and his buddy over last night to play Dungeon Degenerates, it was a first for them, my first non-solo play. It was a fantastic session. We plan on playing the Campaign Mode.

If it were just a little smoother, it would almost definitely be one of the best games of the year. It may still be the best. Give it 11 months...

The writing is on the wall for this one. This is a future $500 game. Not in 11 months, but in five years, maybe.

LOL.

First of all, truck stop Golden Corrals have nothing on Iron Skillets, which are magical dispensaries of anti-hangover meals.

Second of all, 500$ for Dungeon Degenerates? I cannot envision that. Queen’s Gambit doesn’t even command that now.

It really depends on how many they make and how long it is around. It has the look, feel and aura of something that is going to be gone before you know it and then in demand when everyone realizes they slept on it. I think the base game itself, $200 tops. But the character expansion, miniatures and the books will be even scarcer, and that could shoot a tota package, sealed, best case scenario to $500 asking.

But maybe Goblinko will crank them out and I’m wrong...I just get a feeling of Capes and Cowls about it.

Queens Gambit isn’t anywhere near as scarce as the real top dollar games- Full Metal Planete, City of Chaos, etc.

Then Shellie and I watched an old TREK episode (Bread & Circuses). Getting ready now to spend Sunday afternoon painting minis! Pretty sweet "too cold to go outside" New England weekend.

Sounds a lot like my weekend. Except for reading The Tsaddik of the Seven Wonders. Instead I read Magicians and played Star Trek Timelines.

My Saturday night was spent working on a Gundam (an RG GP01 Full Burnern that is almost done) and listening to Primal Rite. After that it was a couple of episodes of Altered Carbon.
