I was most worried about how Night Owl would turn out...but I think he looks fantastic. You can tell that he's a heavier guy, he's got the paunch and all.
The Comedian is just a knockout though...it's like the Gibbons art came to life. I saw it and I couldn't believe it at first. I thought maybe it was some kind of production artwork or something.

Fuck Bruce Campbell, we don't need a giant ham in the film.

The property is in good hands- Snyder's track record of doing an "in spirit" remake of DAWN OF THE DEAD without sullying the memory of the original and his almost panel-for-panel adaptation of 300 lead me to think that the main things the WATCHMEN film needed- heart, passion, fidelity, and understanding- are all there.
I really, really hope internet fanboy bullshit doesn't sink it...I'm already seeing snippy little internet bitches blogging away or whatever about how "shitty" they look and throwing in their completely baseless, worthless two cents on the costume designs. It really makes me wonder what would have happened to STAR WARS or any other genre film before the internet...would they have been run down by these fuckers?
I mean, I'm a big enough fan of WATCHMEN to have a tattoo on my forearm so the whole world can see it...and I think that everything I've seen and heard so far is right on the money as to where the film needs to be headed.
Of course, if it did suck I'd have to spend the rest of my life explaining how I had the tattoo 10 years before the movie came out!

What was wrong with Vendetta?
I thought the movie was in some ways better than the book.
I felt like the movie was a very ham-handed political statement by the Wachowski brothers. They took Alan Moore's story and repurposed it as anti-Bush propaganda. But hey, that's just my take on it.

At least they ditched the Chancelor falling in love with his computer angle.

I think Oz looks just fine. just like the comedian-- ist's all going to be in the delivery. the fact tyat they're actually filming TALES FROM THE BLACK FREIGHTER is fucking awesome! Awww man! I can't wait to seee this shit!
Oh, for the record, V for Vendetta was good stuff. Nothing groundbreaking, but a good movie.
Every time I think of comics being turnd into movies Ghost World pops into my head... god, I love that fucking flick.

Well the book was hardly suttle, it was pretty much a ham handed swipe at Thatcher.
At least they ditched the Chancelor falling in love with his computer angle.
Has anyone read anything by Moore from that period that wasn't a ham-fisted swipe at Thatcher? I liked the movie V more than the book, and I didn't much care for either. The book was too dated, the movie too full of itself. I read the book after seeing the movie, maybe I wrecked it by doing it that way.
