Heroes of the Storm players

I'm posting this here just in case there are any actual player of HotS on the Fortress other than me. I signed on with Gosugamers, one of the larger esports sites out there, to be part of their Heroes crew. They're looking for news posts, interviews, and posts about the current meta of the game. I'm mostly interested in the latter, since it gives me the opportunity to really write, so we'll see how long I last. Nice to hear you signed for gosugamers. Used to watch their overwatch weekly tournament. With the season end of overwatch ,I actually found my way back into HOTS recently. And really enjoying it so far.

Zagara is so far the most annoying hero, just for her sheer lanepushing abilities, and she has so much vision its hard to gank her. But I'm still a newb so probably have plenty to learn. Will try to match Thrall up against her next time.

Zagara is a bit OP right now. She was the foremost lane bully in the game for a long time but, interestingly, often wasn't as good at siege as heroes like Murky and Xul. Most teams drafted her for her teamfight capabilities (Maw, Hunter-Killer) and less for the role that she was nominally created for (herein lies the rant/explanation about Blizzard's generic title of "specialist" for anyone who does something unusual; don't they ALL do something unusual?) When they overhauled her a few weeks back, they cut back markedly on that teamfight ability (nerfing both Maw and HK) but seriously expanded her siege ability and the power of Nydus (which they have since nerfed a bit.) So, if you know how to split push and can keep an eye on the mini-map like good Abathur players, Zagara is the queen (appropriately enough.)

Thrall is a solid counter in that one lane as he always has been. But if you're on a rotational map (Tomb, Shire), she can wreck you unless Thrall totally commits himself to shadowing her every move. I've found recently that what works best against her are ranged assassins like Li Ming, Raynor, Chromie(!), and the newly-buffed Sgt. Hammer because Zagara no longer heals faster on Creep and, despite the extra AA range now given by the Creep, all of the above still outrange her. That means that they can do massive damage with continual poke, which will force her to retreat and/or tap the well or get dead. Incidentally, I've always had spectacular success against Zagara with Murky, since so much of a good Zagara's success rides on her ability to place and keep Creep and there is no hero in the game better able to remove Creep tumors than Murky (Slime is AoE, every 4 seconds, no mana cost.) Plus, he directly competes with her on siege ability, which means you should be able to knock down as many buildings and clear as many waves (if not more) as the Zag team.

Nice article! I myself find playing warrior extremely frustratring because you are so dependant on your assasins to deal enough dmg.

I would say Asia is ahead of the EU and NA scene, the stun and CC potential of warriors can set up and dictate the game much more than the solo warrior comps that most people are running. But it requires more team work and better timing.

Fucking IN, man. I played the other day! I was a starcraft person. With a healing beam. I have like 12k gold, my son is very impressed. He's the HotS player in the house, mostly. I am too busy getting humped by Blizzard's other products.

Sweet. That's Lt. Morales. She's the subject of a mild meme within Heroes, known as "Focus Morales!", since she'll usually be healing someone getting gangbanged and keeping them alive. She has more healing throughput with he Q than any other Support in the game (at the cost of not doing much else why she's using it.) If you like Supports, one of those bundles is a "Support and Specialist" group...

I started playing the last time they had a WoW mount available. I've just been playing AI games but having a pretty good time knocking out daily quests and rotating through weekly heroes.

What would be a good next step?

Quickmatch, definitely. You get more gold for wins and more experience, win or lose. Once you have 14 heroes at level 5 or higher, you can move on to Unranked or Hero League, both of which are drafting formats. Or, if you can find someone(s) else to play with, Team League.

I've got 37 to level 5 or more so I'm good there.

OK. Cool. I'm going to be on tomorrow if you want to get some Team League in. I haven't even done my placements this season. If you don't want the whole ranked pressure, we could always do some Unranked or just do some QM, too. I'm going to see if I can talk a couple other friends into it and we could maybe get a group of 4 or 5 together and run a few games.
